Orange Marine Testimonial

Thanks to this web-based solution, even if the ship is not connected to a network, crews still have seamless access to all documentation.

Orange Marine is digitizing safety and operations on its cable-laying vessels worldwide with BlueKanGo

A subsidiary of the Orange Group founded in 1999, Orange Marine has been responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and repair of submarine cables—which carry more than 99% of international communications—for over 25 years. The company operates four specialized cable-laying vessels and employs nearly 300 people across several locations in France, including Paris, Brest, and La Seyne-sur-Mer. As a strategic player in global telecommunications, Orange Marine operates worldwide to install new submarine infrastructure and repair critical links in record time.

With BlueKanGo, we were able to transform our paper forms into applications tailored to our business needs and provide real-time access to procedures on our ships. The tool is truly flexible and adapts to our specific needs.

Key Figures

  • 300 employees
  • 4 cable-laying vessels operating internationally
  • 120 BlueKanGo users
  • 1 200 digitized procedures
  • 1 800 work permits issued

Before implementing the BlueKanGo ESH solution, management of the QSE system relied primarily on email exchanges, Word documents, and Excel files. With nearly 1,200 procedures to manage, teams spread across onshore sites and vessels, and particularly demanding operational constraints, this approach was reaching its limits. The goal was clear: to have a single platform capable of digitizing processes, centralizing data, and easily distributing operational documentation to teams, including those at sea.

BACKGROUND / CHALLENGES:

  • Exposure and connectivity constraints: the need to ensure continuous access to quality and safety documentation aboard ships operating off-network (offline/at sea).
  • Information scattered across multiple media and channels
  • The Need to Modernize Office Software to Improve Efficiency

SOLUTIONS / RESULTS:

  • Better control over operations: Dashboards provide immediate visibility into ongoing tasks, deadlines, and associated responsibilities.
  • Rapid adoption by field users: Seafarers were the first to use the solution and are now actively involved in reporting issues and driving continuous improvement.
  • A solution truly tailored to the business: one of the key factors for Orange Marine was BlueKanGo’s ability to adapt to its organization rather than the other way around.

The 3 Main Benefits of BlueKanGo for Orange Marine

  • Accessibility of Documentation

Guaranteed access to documentation and risk management tools, even on ships that are not connected to the network.

  • Uninterrupted Access to Information at Sea

Document access addresses the specific challenges faced by teams working aboard ships who may be far from any network connection.

  • Centralization of Documentation

The web-based solution serves as a portal to documentation for Orange Marine teams, including those on board ships.
